Happy Friday!

Yes I am writing on a Friday. But this is important.

Today marks the beginning of Kingston on the Edge (KOTE) Urban Arts Festival 2016.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 2014 staging but somehow managed to miss 2015, so I am excited about this year’s events.

The KOTE 2016 theme is “Connections.” The KOTE 2016 will be held from Friday June 17 through to Sunday June 26, 2016.

The opening event will be on Friday June 17 at Redbones Blues Café (1 Argyle Road Kingston 10). The night’s activities begin at 7 p.m. and will include a showcase of  live music, and an art exhibit of paintings and sculptures. The opening event will also be the Jamaican premier of the documentary film, La Ruma Me Llama (Rumba Calling), an exploration of Cuban music. Admission is JMD 1000 or $500 for students with IDs.

KOTE is a ten-day celebration of art and the artists who live and work in the city of Kingston. The Festival offers an unique opportunity for art enthusiasts and the general public to interact with established and emerging Jamaican artists.

See you on Sunday!
