Hello. Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. This week I’m sharing my February 2023 reading wrap-up. February was a decent reading month. I didn’t read all the book on my February 2023 TBR list but I made steady progress.

February 2023 Reading Wrap-Up

February was exceptional because I read two five-star books. And I enjoyed everything I read. I’ll review in the order in which I read the books.

Anatomy Of A Meet Cute by Addie Woolridge

I finally read Anatomy of A Meet Cute and I loved it. I rated it four-stars. Our MC Sam really grew on me and I was rooting for her and Grant.

I read this as part of the Read Harder Challenge as a book that I chose based solely on the cover.

Anatomy of A Meet Cute is set to be released on 7 March 2023.

The Salt Eaters by Toni Cade Bambara and narrated by Mia Ellis

The Salt Eaters by Toni Cade Bambara was the only audiobook I listened to in February. Mia Ellis is an excellent narrator. This book was multiple streams of consciousness. It’s a story of healing and survival. I’d love to reread a copy with my eyes. For the Read Harder Challenge this was a book that’s loved by your favourite author and for me that’s Toni Morrison.

When The Vibe Is Right by Sarah Dass

When The Vibe Is Right by Sarah Dass was my first official five-star book of 2023. I loved this so much and it was extra special reading Tess and Brandon’s story during T &T Carnival season 2023. I highly recommend. The book is scheduled for publication on 30 May 2023.

Your Heart Is The Sea by Nikita Gill

Your Heart Is The Sea by Nikita Gill is a beautifully written collection of contemporary poetry. The first section was the hardest to get through. Content warnings for rape, emotional abuse and physical abuse.

For the Read Harder Challenge this book was for the prompt to read a poetry collection by a BIPOC author.

Annie John by Jamaica Kincaid

And now my second five-star read of February. I loved Annie John by Jamaica Kincaid. I initially felt that I read this book during my teen years but after reading it last month I’m not sure if I did. Brilliant storytelling and one of the best coming of age books.

I read this as part of the We Read Jamaica Kincaid read along. And I can’t wait for the March pick.
