My Jamaican Vignettes Becomes A Kennedy Ryan Stan Blog

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Welcome back. In, June I read two Kennedy Ryan books and I am now a fan. This blog post is to celebrate us entering into our Kennedy Ryan era and My Jamaican Vignettes becoming a Kennedy Ryan stan blog.

The Skyland Series by Kennedy Ryan

The Skyland series by Kennedy Ryan is a three-book series that’s a blend of women’s fiction and contemporary romance set in Atlanta USA. The series follows three friends, Yasmin, Soledad and Hendrix.

Book one in the series is Before I Let Go which is Yasmin’s book following her divorce from Josiah. I rated the book five stars. Please check the content warnings before reading, you can find them online and they are in the front of the book,

Book two is This Could Be Us and it is Soledad’s book. I loved this too but I gave it 4.5 stars. The third book in the series is for Hendrix and that is slated for release in spring 2025 and I am so excited for that book.

These books chronicle life after loss, grief, aging, friendship, relationships, marriages and divorce, parenthood and living your authentic life. I thoroughly enjoyed books one and two.

Where I Started With Kennedy Ryan

The first book by Ryan that I read an ARC in 2023. It was an ARC for the re-release of her novel The Kingmaker in the All The King’s Men series. I rated that book three stars. I also rated book two in the series, The Rebel King three-stars. Then I gave another of Ryan’s books a shot and I read When You Were Mine (The Bennetts book one) and I also rated that three-stars.

So why did give Skyland series a shot this year after that mid-reading experience? Here’s the thing a three-star book isn’t a bad rating for me. It means that I read the entire book and I was entertained while reading it. It means that while I wasn’t moved emotionally by the story there is something of value to be gotten from those stories.

My Next Kennedy Ryan Book

The next Kennedy Ryan book on my TBR is Reel. I have an e-book with the new cover and while I wished I had a copy of the original paperback, the story is what is most important. It promises to give Hollywood glamour and it is dedicated to list of African American icons including Billie Holiday. Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston and Claude McKay.

Have you read of any Kennedy Ryan books? Which one was your favourite?
