A Mother's Secret: A beautiful, heartbreaking novel of love, loss and hidden tragedyA Mother’s Secret: A beautiful, heartbreaking novel of love, loss and hidden tragedy by Renita D’Silva
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this story. I am still processing just how beautiful yet sad this story is. Amazing storytelling. A Mother’s Secret is told from four perspective, Durga, Kali, Jaya and the diaries of Jaya’s mother Sudha. These alternating narratives show how secrets, betrayal, death and pain causes generational “curses” of distrust.

A Mother’s Secret is beautifully written, with rich details of Indian life and culture. Now I’m not familiar with Indian cultural expressions but I felt like I was transported to a different time and place and Renita D’Silva was my trusted guide taking me along this amazing journey.

Ultimately this is a story of love and the bonds of womanhood.

Thanks to NetGalley and the book publishers Boukouture for granting me access to this book.
