Bloggers' Recognition Award
I woke up Saturday morning to a truly lovely surprise, Mike Senczyszah from Solsbury Hill nominated My Jamaican Vignettes for the Bloggers’ Recognition Award. Thanks Mike.
This is my first nomination and the first time hearing about this blogger recognition tag and blog celebration.
There are five simple rules for the Bloggers’ Recognition Awards:
- Write a post to show your award
- Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers
- Select up to 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.
Giving thanks to Mike Senczyszah from Solsbury Hill
Mike Senczyszah has been one of my most ardent supporters. He reads and comments and encourages me and has been truly terrific. Solsbury Hill is Mike’s world of eccentric and eclectic musing and observations on life, music, art, movies and of course, writing. My favourite Solsbury Hill post to date was one of Mike’s non-post, from the middle of June this year, No Post This Week. In the supposed writer’s block self-analysis/discussion, Mike’s non-post shared deep insights in the bloggers’ struggles of maintaining consistency, negotiating changes and offering fresh yet relevance commentary and ideas. Thanks for connecting and supporting Mike.
My Jamaican Vignettes
I started My Jamaican Vignettes in December 2015 on Channillo, as a weekly Sunday reflections on my life as a Jamaican researcher and writer. I had (have) no clear distinct parameters for what to include or exclude, how much of my personal life to share and what to keep private. My blog has been my space to work through my challenges, share my joys and connect with others. Blogging has got me to write consistently, and facilitated my working through my feelings. Last week, I merged my Tumblr blog and created the category The Stories of Chantel for my book reviews and bookish discussions. I will now be sharing my reflections and my love of books. Despite being less than a year old, my blog is growing and I am happy with the possibilities and thankful for this space to share my thoughts, dreams and simply to write.
Advice to new bloggers
Just write. There are hundreds of thousands of blogs (perhaps millions, I do not have exact stats on this), but your voice is unique and your story is worthy of being told. Whatever your passion is, feel free to share and in time you will connect with others who share that passion, be inclusive and stay informed and just keep writing.
I nominate the following blogs:
Emma Lewis – Petchary’s Blog
Susan Goffe – Right Steps & Poui Trees
Priya Prithviraj – Priya’s Lit Blog
Keilah Mills – Dis Likkle Korner
Amanda Jones – Amanda Jones Aromatics
I’m Glad I’m A Girl Foundation
Thanks for connecting.
Happy Sunday!
