Reading Time: 2 minutes

I am delighted to share and place the MJV spotlight on Tata and the Big Bad Bull by Juleus Ghunta with you.

CaribbeanReads

This is a new picture book by CaribbeanReads. Tata and the Big Bad Bull is for young readers, ages three to seven. This is prefect for early childhood learning groups, kindergarten and infant schools, and for parents to read to their young children.

Tata and the Big Bad Bull Book Summary

Tata loves going to school, but the only way he can get there is through Pelken Pasture which is fiercely guarded by the Big Bad Bull.

Can Tata figure out how to get past the angry bull and make it to school on time?
Told in loose rhyme, this is a fun story about determination and overcoming fear with compassion.

About the Author

Julues Ghunta is a Jamaican poet and motivational speaker. He is also a Chevening Scholarship recipient and is presently studying Peace Studies at University of Bradford. This is his first picture book.

My Thoughts on Tata and The Big Bad Bull

This book was a true delight to read. And children will love it.

Illustrator Ann-Catherine Loo does an amazing job with the vibrant colours and detailed characters.

Fun fact: I met the author years ago when I was research officer at Liberty Hall: The Legacy of Marcus Garvey. It was November 2012 I believe and we both attended a youth event. I set up a small booth on behalf of Liberty Hall sharing with interested students the life and work of Marcus Garvey. And Ghunta was the main speaker. He did an amazing job sharing his life story.

Strange as this may sound but I can see clear similarities between Tata and Ghunta’s experiences based on that one speech he gave in 2012.

I hope the book can become a series because I would love to go on more adventures with Tata.

Tata and the Big Bad Bull goes on sale tomorrow, Thursday 31 May 2018. And will be available wherever books are sold.
