MJV Bookish Thought: February 2025 Reading Wrap-Up

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. Spoiler alert, I only read two books in February. This reading wrap up will include the two books I read, plus two books I am currently reading and the list of the fairly ambitious reading list I made at the end of January and why I won’t create a TBR for March 2025.

February 2025 Reading Wrap-Up

So, I only managed to complete two books in February.

I already shared just how much I loved reading It Waits In The Forest by Sarah Dass in my January wrap-up, the only issue was I didn’t make it to the end of the book in January. Instead, I completed reading it on the first weekend in February. I rated it four and a half stars. It was creepy and atmospheric and interesting. A very engrossing read. I highly recommend it.

Then I read a romantic thriller or romantic suspense novel by K.C. Mills. I first read K.C. Mills last Christmas when I read her holiday romance book Christmas In Spite of You which I liked. Now in February, I read and enjoyed Innocent Intent which centred a forensic profiler and a detective. It was twisty and such a fun escapist read. I rated it 3.75 stars.

Then life I started to get in the way of reading. I won’t get into details here. But I simply couldn’t settle into reading and I didn’t complete any other books.

What I Am Currently Reading

So I am actively reading two books which I think I will complete fairly early in March. I started as my physical book in February, Carefree Black Girls: A Celebration of Black Women by Zeba Blay. It was published in 2021 and I feel as if I would’ve loved and connected with the essays more if I read the book when it was first released.

Then on my Kindle, I am reading and enjoying The God of Good Looks by Breanne Mc Ivor and that is my Caribbean book of the month.

The Fairly Ambitious TBR List I Created for February 2025

So, at the end of January I decided that I wanted to read eight books in February and these included:

She Would Be King by Wayetu Moore – this is my physical book for the month and I started it but this will be a slow read so let’s check back in summer 2025 about this.

A Wager At Midnight by Vanessa Riley – I have a digital advanced reader copy of this and I will be reading it very soon but I only made it part way through the first chapter.

The God of Good Looks by Breanne Mc Ivor – currently reading

The Point of Exhale by Kimberly Brown – ebook that I haven’t started reading.

Jack Girlz Atlanta by BriAnn Danea – NetGalley e-ARC that I haven’t started reading (yet).

See More Then by Jamaica Kincaid – ebook that I started last year and planned to resume but didn’t.

Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay – I don’t own but planned to read via Everand but I ended up cancelling my subscription instead.

Reel by Kennedy Ryan – I have the ebook but wanted to listen to the audiobook production via Everand but as I said before I cancelled it. I hope to get a physical copy of Reel very soon.

No More TBRs for Now

Reading lists aren’t working for me so I won’t create one for March. I will read whatever gets me excited and I might prioritize the review copies that I have access to as well. Reading is my escape, my fav hobby and I don’t want it to feel like a chore.

Bonus: TV and Movies

I am bringing this back. I started one movie this month but I haven’t finished it, I have no reason why I didn’t complete it except my TV watching is often competing with my phone and social media scrolling.

Now for TV, I watched two seasons of Ghosts on Netflix. I loved that. And I watched what has become my current favourite TV series on Max, I watched Found season two.
