Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. This week I’m sharing the mystery series I’m loving right now. These are whodunnits, cosy mystery and historical mysteries that I thoroughly enjoyed the books I’ve read so far in the series and that I’ve read more than one book from the author.

Mystery Series I’m Loving Right Now

The Baker’s Street series by Valerie Burns

I’m starting my list with latest author to be added to my favs list. This is a cosy mystery series that has recipes. And we’re following lost and bratty Maddy Montgomery as she starts over in a new town with a new career after a devastating break-up. You’ll get to follow along a solve the mysteries, see Maddy grow and build new relationships and develop her character and self-esteem. Plus there’s pet love with her English mastiff called Baby.

I read books one and two earlier this year and I really can’t wait to continue with the series.

Miss Ashford Investigates by Vivian Conroy

I read my first Vivian Conroy book years ago. She’s an author I found via NetGalley and then I followed her on Twitter (X) and when she announced her new series last year I gave it a try and quite liked it. This is a historical mystery but our sleuth isn’t a random amateur detective but a young teacher who inherits her grandfather’s fortune and his private detective business. I read book one last October and I already own books two and three and will get to them later this year.

Perveen Mistry series by Sujata Massey

The Perveen Mistry series is one of my all time favourite mystery series. I’ve read books one to three and already have a copy of book four. The Mystery of Bhatia House is one of my most anticipated books for 2023 and I even preordered a copy so I got it on release day.

Perveen Mistry is a lawyer in India in the 1920s working for her father’s law firm. She is uniquely positioned to tackle issues affecting women in ways that men can’t in the society due to religious and cultural practices. I loved book one, The Widows of Malabar Hill when I read it in 2019 and I think I’ve rated every book I’ve read in the series four-stars.

And those my top three mystery series that I’m loving right now. As I write this I can think of a few other mystery series that I quite enjoyed but I haven’t picked up in a while so I’m behind by a book or two or three so let me know if you’d like a part two of this.

And I could also do a romance series post if you like.
