Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. On this week’s MJV Bookish Thoughts we’re discussing the two books I read last month for November 2022 reading wrap-up.

Despite having a fairly short TBR in November I only completed two books. Let’s talk about them.

November 2022 Reading Wrap-up

Double The Lies by Patricia Raybon

I thoroughly enjoyed this historical mystery. I rated this book four-stars on Goodreads. This was from NetGalley. So thanks to the publishers, Tyndale House for granting me access. This book is labeled as Christian mystery and this is my first time reading in this genre. This is book two in the Annalee Spain series and you will get spoiled if you read book two without first reading book one.

I wasn’t able to guess who committed the murder before it was revealed but the pieces were laid out so that the reader could play detective and figure it out before Annalee.

Each chapter in the novel begins with a quote from a Sherlock Holmes mystery and it is clear that the author and our heroine are major fans of that detective.

The novel is descriptive and deals with the issues of racism in the USA during the 1920s.

I hope to read more in the series.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert

Act Your Age, Eve Brown is book three in the Brown sisters trilogy. It was a cute ending to the series. I gave it a 3.5 stars rating. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator Ione Butler did a fantastic job. I highly recommend the audiobook.

I’m still not sure which Brown sister story I loved more.

And that’s it. I only read two books.

Next week, I’m going to give an overview of my attempt at the Book Riot Read Harder 2022 Challenge. (Spoiler alert I didn’t complete the challenge).
