NaNoWriMo 2023 Prep or Preptober 2023
Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. Today I’m sharing my NaNoWriMo 2023 prep plans or Preptober things I need to do. I have my vague idea and guess what it’s not a novel. I’m going to delve into the world of nonfiction books and draft a memoir this November. Fingers crossed I can do this and actually successfully complete NaNoWriMo 2023.
NaNoWriMo 2023 Prep
The first major thing I need to do is plot my memoir. I have a vague outline in my notes app on my phone but I need actual storyboard plot points. There are two books published by the organisers of NaNoWriMo that I have saved in my Amazon cart that I’ll order and use in October to get me going. These books are No Plot? No Problem! Revised and Expanded Edition: A Low-stress, High-velocity Guide to Writing a Novel in 30 Days by Chris Baty and Ready Set Memoir!: The Essential Guide to Telling Your Story by Lindsey Grant.
I’ll work through those guides in October and plot my story.
I also plan to read mental health memoirs and nonfiction collections. The chief among those are The Collected Schizophrenias by Esme Weijun Wang which I have on my Kindle.
Lastly but most importantly I need to buy a personal laptop or Chromebook in October. Since November 2022 I’ve been blogging on my Pixel 7 phone so I need a laptop if I’m going to successfully complete NaNoWriMo 2023.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo 2023? Have you already declared your writing project on the website? Let me know if you plan on writing your novel this November and if you’re in the Caribbean Elsewhere region add me as a buddy. I’m ChantelDaCosta on the NaNoWriMo platform.
