Summer 2024 Reading Plans

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Hello, and welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. May turned into yet another unplanned blog break but we are back with summer 2024 reading plans. I don’t have an exact summer TBR this year. But I have some books I want to get to and a general vibe.

This summer, I want to spend time with loved ones (family and friends) while balancing my work commitments. And I want to accomplish some personal writing goals. Plus I want to get to my advanced reader copies from NetGalley.

Here are my summer 2024 reading plans.

June is Read Caribbean Month

June is designated Read Caribbean Month and Pride Month. This means I must dedicate time to completing Pasty by Nicole Dennis-Benn. Some of the issues covered were triggering but I have wanted to read this book since 2019 so this month I am making it a priority.

My other Caribbean book that I hope to get to this month is:

Hungry Ghosts by Kevin Jared Hosein has been on my currently reading list on both Goodreads and the StoryGraph since June 2023. I will read this book.

NetGalley ARCs for Summer 2024

I have been approved for five upcoming releases via NetGalley and this summer I am focusing on reading and reviewing three of them.

The first book on my list is A Taste For More By Phyllis R Dixon which will be release on 25 June 2024 by Kensington Publishing (Dafina). I started reading this yesterday and I am pulled into the story but I am not sure what exactly is happening yet.

The other two books that I plan to read via NetGalley are:

The Trial of Mrs Rhinelander by Denny S Bryce (Kensington Publishing) and A Cup of Flour A Pinch of Death by Valerie Burns (Kensington Publishing) and both books will be released on 23 July 2024.

My Summer 2024 Reading Plans Stack

Now considering that I have been struggling with Patsy since January, reading four physical books in summer 2024 might be stretching it. But I am an optimist.

So for the remainder of summer 2024, I am committing to reading:

It Waits In The Forest By Sarah Dass.

Before I Let Go and This Could Be Us (Skyland series books one and two) by Kennedy Ryan

No Reservation by Sheryl Lister

Those are my very loose summer 2024 reading plans.

What’s on your reading list for summer 2024?

Feel free to save the summer reading bingo card and play along in June, July and August.
