Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes. I feel as if my apartment is too small and too hot to successfully host a summer dinner party but that hasn’t stopped me from dreaming up a menu complete with a menu card (see below) and desserts.

Steal my summer 2024 three-course dinner idea for your summer party and have a blast with family and friends this season.

Summer 2024 Three-Course Dinner Ideas

Starters

The idea of a watermelon and cucumber feta salad intrigues but I have never made one so summer 2024 might just be the best time if I can find affordable watermelons and cucumbers in Jamaica in this post-hurricane Beryl era.

I’ve made garlic butter shrimp as a main protein before and loved it but during my trip to Panama earlier this year I had it as a starter and loved it.

Main Course

It is lobster season and while I am yet to conquer making a creamy cheesy mac and cheese from scratch, I am up the challenge. And, I love salmon but I haven’t cooked it for myself just yet but a recipe for grilled salmon with mango salsa and coconut rice has been saved on my summer 2024 vision board Pinterest board and I want to make it.

Desserts

Confession, I have never had a blondie but I used to a make a cinnamon and brown sugar bar in high school that feels similar so when I read A Cup of Flour, A Pinch Of Death by Valerie Burns in June and the main character baked blondies, I knew it was something I’d like. Then, I think a Basque cheesecake looks simple enough that I wouldn’t spoil it.
